The U.S.-Japan Dialogue

The Japan Forum on International Relations (JFIR) and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) co-hosted the U.S.-Japan dialogue, “Managing China: Adapting U.S.-Japan Coordination Amid Political Transition,” as part of our research project “China Risk and China Opportunity in the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Era.”

The panelists had an in-depth discussion on the future policy of Japan and the U.S. toward China. The following were the panelists: James Schoff (Senior Fellow, CEIP), Amy Seawright (former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense), and Patricia Kim (Senior Policy Analyst, United States Institute of Peace) from the United States; KAMIYA Matake, (Professor, National Defense Academy of Japan), KANEHARA Nobukatsu (former Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Secretariat of Japan), and TAKAHARA Akio (Professor, University of Tokyo), from Japan.
