The Japan Forum on International Relations has participated in this project as a collaborating institution since fiscal year 2023, under the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS)’s program Co-Creation of Academic Knowledge titled “Building Climate Change Governance through Multistakeholder Cooperation: The Case of Low-Carbon Hydrogen Projects” (Research Period: 6 years).
This project recognizes that current divisions and conflicts among various actors hinder effective climate change mitigation measures. It aims to examine challenges for overcoming these divisions and conflicts within climate change governance. Specifically, it focuses on low-carbon hydrogen initiatives to propose strategies for achieving effective and sustainable climate change governance based on coordination among diverse actors.
The project has formed five groups: “Climate Change and International Politics,” “Climate Change and Trade,” “Corporate Climate Responsibility and Civil Society,” “Climate Change and Corporate Management,” and “Climate Change Related Technologies and CC(U)S.” These groups are collaborating on research and analysis.
